Bhagalpur–Vikramshila
Why Bhagalpur–Vikramshila
Bhagalpur is the silk city of Bihar. Tussar silk has been woven here for generations, and the weavers' lanes still hum with handlooms and powerlooms side by side. Nearby are the ruins of Vikramshila, a great Buddhist university of its time, and the stretch of the Ganga protected for the Gangetic river dolphin. We picked it for a retreat on scaling a traditional craft: what happens when a skill passed down in families meets machines, middlemen and online markets.
For founders scaling production, working with artisans, or building supply chains.
What you'll do there
- Spend a morning in a weavers' cluster
- Walk the Vikramshila university ruins at Antichak
- Look for river dolphins on the Ganga
- A session on growing output without losing quality
