Champhai
Why Champhai
Champhai is a town in eastern Mizoram, looking out over wide valleys towards the hills of Myanmar. Its flat fields have made it one of Mizoram's main farming areas, known for rice and grapes. The border crossing at Zokhawthar is close by, and trade with Myanmar is part of daily life here. It is one of the places where India's Act East policy is most visible on the ground. We picked it for a retreat on new markets: what it takes to be early in a market that is just opening up.
For founders thinking about new geographies, cross-border trade, or being first in a market.
What you'll do there
- Views over the valley towards Myanmar
- Visit the border town of Zokhawthar
- Meet growers in Champhai's vineyards and fields
- A session on being early in a new market
