Daringbadi (Kandhamal)
Why Daringbadi (Kandhamal)
Daringbadi is a small hill town in Kandhamal district, Odisha, among pine forests and coffee gardens. It is often called the Kashmir of Odisha, and in winter the mornings can get close to freezing. Kandhamal is also known for its turmeric, grown by tribal farmers and protected with a geographical indication (GI) tag, so only turmeric from this region can carry the name. We picked it for a retreat on origin brands: what it takes to make where your product comes from part of why people buy it.
For founders building a product brand around a place, an ingredient, or a story of origin.
What you'll do there
- Walk through pine forests and coffee gardens
- Meet turmeric growers and see how it is processed
- Early mornings at the valley viewpoints
- A session on telling the story of where your product comes from
