Jamshedpur–Dalma
Why Jamshedpur–Dalma
Jamshedpur was built around the steel plant set up by the Tata group in the early 1900s, and is often called India's first planned industrial city. Schools, hospitals, parks and civic services grew around a company, and many still run that way. Just outside the city are the Dalma hills and the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, known for its elephants. We picked it for a retreat on building institutions: what it takes to build something that outlives its founder.
For founders thinking about culture, values and building a company for the long run.
What you'll do there
- See how a company town was planned and is run
- Visit Jubilee Park and the old city areas
- A morning in the Dalma hills
