Kesariya–Vaishali
Why Kesariya–Vaishali
Vaishali was the seat of the Licchavi republic, one of the earliest known places where a council of people, not a single king, made decisions. The Buddha taught here often, and the Ashokan pillar at Kolhua still stands. A short drive north is Kesariya, home to one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world, rising out of farmland. We picked these two for a retreat on governance and shared decisions. How do co-founders disagree well? When should a team vote, and when should one person decide? It is a good place to think about that.
For founders working out co-founder roles, boards, or how decisions get made as the team grows.
What you'll do there
- Walk the Kolhua site and the Ashokan pillar at Vaishali
- Visit the Kesariya stupa early in the morning
- A session on co-founder agreements and decision rights
- Conversations with local cooperatives and village bodies
