Koraput
Why Koraput
Koraput is a hill district in southern Odisha, home to many Adivasi communities. Farmers here have grown many traditional varieties of rice and millets for generations, and the area is recognised by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization as a globally important agricultural heritage system. Coffee is grown in the hills too, and farmer cooperatives and producer companies are working to get a better price for what the district grows. We picked it for a retreat on cooperatives and agri-value: building a business where many small producers share the upside.
For founders in agriculture, food, or any business built with many small suppliers.
What you'll do there
- Visit millet and rice farmers in the hills
- See a coffee plantation and processing unit
- Meet a farmer producer organisation
- A session on fair pricing with small suppliers
