Shantiniketan
Why Shantiniketan
Shantiniketan is the small town in West Bengal where Rabindranath Tagore started a school under the trees, which grew into Visva-Bharati University. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Art, music and craft are part of everyday life here. Local makers sell leather work, kantha embroidery and textiles at weekly markets. We picked it for a retreat on culture-led building: how ideas, art and a way of life can become the reason an organisation exists.
For founders in education, culture, design, or any company with a strong point of view.
What you'll do there
- Walk through the Visva-Bharati campus
- Visit the weekend craft market at Sonajhuri
- Meet local artisans in leather and kantha work
- A session on building around a clear point of view
