Unakoti
Why Unakoti
Unakoti is a forested hill in northern Tripura covered with huge rock carvings of Shiva and other figures, cut into the cliff faces more than a thousand years ago. The name means "one less than a crore", after a local legend about how many carvings there are. It sits close to the Bangladesh border. Tripura has long lived by trade across that border, through land ports and local markets. We picked it for a retreat on trade and borders: selling across lines, whether those are borders, languages or markets.
For founders selling to new regions, exporting, or working across markets.
What you'll do there
- Walk among the Unakoti rock carvings
- Learn how trade with Bangladesh shapes local business
- Visit tea gardens and markets around Kailashahar
- A session on entering a market you do not know
