Why we started Collabuilder in Patna

On 1 June 2026, Collabuilder Private Limited was incorporated in Patna. This is the first note in our Journal, so it seems right to say plainly what we are doing and why.

The problem we kept running into

If you are building a company in Bihar or the Northeast, a lot of the work is done alone. You handle product, sales, hiring and accounts yourself. The people around you mean well, but most of them have not built anything, so there is no one to think out loud with.

Founder events exist, but most of them are in Bengaluru, Delhi or Mumbai. They cost a flight and two days, and much of the time goes on pitches, panels and swapping visiting cards. You come home with contacts, but rarely with an answer to the question that was keeping you up.

What we are building instead

Collabuilder runs small, three-day retreats for early-stage founders. Each one has 20–25 founders, men and women, and takes place somewhere quiet in Bihar, the Northeast, Odisha, Jharkhand or West Bengal. We travel there together from Patna.

There is no stage and no pitching. The days are built around three things:

• Time to think. A place far enough from the city that you stop doing busywork.
• A small group that gets it. Founders who are also early, who will tell you what they really think.
• A plan you take home. Everyone writes a 90-day plan, reads it to a small pod, and checks in with that pod after the retreat.

Why Patna

We are from here. Starting from Patna means founders in the region do not have to fly across the country to spend time with people building the same kind of company. It also means we can take groups to places most people never see: forests, river islands, old universities and craft towns, each with people who have built something under hard conditions.

Where we are now

Collabuilder is a DPIIT-recognised startup and is registered on NIDHI+ with the Ministry of Tourism. Our first retreat is planned for Valmiki Nagar in West Champaran, tentatively in the last week of November 2026.
